The Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment, which spanned from the late 1500’s to 1700’s, shaped today’s modern world through disregarding past information and seeking answers on their own through the scientific method and other techniques created during the Enlightenment. In the short story, Cathedral, by Raymond Carver, the author uses imagery, symbolism and narrates the story in first person point of view. The Cathedral’s main theme is being able to identify the difference between being able to look and/or see and it is portrayed through the main characters role in the story. I have this calling to go back there and give more of my love and I plan to return this next summer for the entire month of July. When it was time to leave, I looked out the window and I saw not just ordinary children, I saw children of God, and I knew right then and there, I was a child of God too.
